Child and Youth Study Center
Thank you for joining us in our effort to make a difference in the lives of children and youth in the Palouse Region. The center offers a wide range of diagnostic issues as well as many “real life” challenges in clinical work for students. There is a brisk pace of learning the craft of therapy and diagnostics, as well as the integration of science into practice. This is our commitment to providing a high quality, rigorous and comprehensive curriculum/internship.

Mission
We strive to provide the best psychological services to children, families, and professionals in the region, while providing the highest possible quality of supervision to graduate students and interns in the program. Our center provides a variety of services addressing the following types of diagnostic issues on a regular basis:
- Pervasive Developmental Disorders including Autism
- Learning Disabilities
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder
- Mood Disorders
- Anxiety Disorders
Program Emphasis
The program’s emphasis is on public service to underserved populations such as those who live in rural areas, low-income individuals, severely disturbed children, and children with combined developmental, medical, and psychiatric disorders. We focus on skills related to diagnostics, educational and psychological assessment, consultation, and psychotherapy.
Students and Interns
Students and interns train in the psychological treatment and assessment of children, developmental psychology, cognitive and behavioral therapies, interpersonal therapy, and family systems theory. Work ranges from consulting services for various school districts, to more in-depth clinical services with agencies like Latah County Youth Services and the Moscow Charter School. Opportunities are available to participate in interdisciplinary teams, presentations, lectures, or other outreach activities provided by our center.
