The Idaho Person Centered Planning Project

In recent years the ability of people with disabilities to lead self-directed lives has taken on a new direction and a new energy.  The movement toward self determination is beginning to allow people with disabilities to pursue their goals and aspirations.  Person centered planning provides a vehicle for people with disabilities to live their lives in a manner they choose, taking a positive approach to assess their ambitions and potential, formulating goals, and determining the means to achieve those goals.

The Idaho Person Centered Planning Project is developing an innovative approach to person centered planning in an effort to create a robust, sustainable, and collaborative statewide program based on best practices.  IPCP is training Person Centered Planning Specialists to assist individuals with disabilities and their families with envisioning and creating long-term plans based upon their individual needs and preferences.  The IPCP project also focuses on identifying the needs of informal caregivers and referring them to supportive organizations so they can more effectively assist in the development and implementation of person centered plans.
