Mission Statement:
For all human beings, especially person's with disabilities, to reach their fullest potential, live a full life with dignity, health, freedom, rights and responsibilities. For humans, or those closest to them, to be their own best advocates with the tools, resources and knowledge to achieve a beneficial and successful life of their choosing.
I was born and raised in Southeast Idaho, on a farm and cattle ranch. I learned very early how to work hard and to have a good work ethic. My two beautiful children and I are fortunate enough to live in the house I grew up in, a house built by my grandparents, in a small town. Even though I have a long wonderful family history in Idaho, I do not always agree with the “systems of care and planning” for people with disabilities in our State. I believe Person Centered Planning is the best way to go when creating a life and dreams of your own.
I have 18 years of experience as a Social Worker in Idaho, and have spent 17 of those years working with children and adults who experience disability, and their families. It is very important to me that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as people without disabilities. This means having respect, health, employment, friends, relationships, community involvement, freedom, choice and responsibilities, all free from discrimination. It is very important to me that families and adults receive support and services that are beneficial to them in helping them achieve their goals and dreams in life. It is also very important that the voices of families and individuals are heard and listened to when it comes to directing and deciding who and what they want to be involved in and what they want for their lives. We all have different dreams and aspirations and no two of us are alike. It is the same for people with disabilities. I refuse to use “cookie cutter” plans, or the same plan everyone else has for their life. It is you and what is best for you and your family that we should be planning around. I have seen what parents and individuals experience in dealing with a difficult “system,” a system that is difficult to navigate and not always working toward your best interest.
As an Idaho Person Centered Planning Specialist, I will do my absolute best to help you get what you need and want to be successful and feel good about your life, and to reach your fullest and happiest potential. As your Person Centered Planning Specialist, I will assist you in mapping out your dreams and taking actions to achieve them.
