IBI Instructor Cadre FAQ's

 

 

If I apply will I automatically be accepted as an IBI Instructor?

No.  The ITC is looking for approximately seven (7) highly qualified, regionally-based instructors to deliver training in the seven (7) DHW regions of the state.  Selection will be made following an application review and an interview.

If I am chosen as an instructor, how many classes will I teach?

An instructor will be responsible to teach up to four (4) classes at an anticipated frequency of one class per quarter.

How long is each class?

Classes must be conducted over a minimum of 40 contact hours.  The duration of the class is a minimum of a four (4) week period.  No one session can be conducted for more than four (4) hours.

Are IBI instructors paid?

Yes.  Instructors will be contracted through the ITC and paid a flat fee for each training.

What is the duration of the instructor contract?

The ITC will contract with an instructor on an annual basis and the contract may be renewed based on performance.

Is an instructor responsible for setting up the meeting place and the equipment for the class?

No.  The ITC will help an instructor arrange a meeting place and the equipment for the classes.

Do instructors pay for their own materials?

No.  The ITC will supply all the materials for the classes including DVD's, books, manuals, and handouts.

Is there a minimum number of students required for a class to be held?

Yes.  There must be at least six (6) students registered to offer a class.

Is there a maximum number of students for a class?

Yes.  There is a maximum number of 12 students per class.

How will I know when a class is offered in my region?

The training dates and locations will be posted on the ITC website in advance.

Do students have to pay for the class?

Yes.  A student will be charged $250.00 per class payable to the ITC.

Do students have to supply their own materials?

Yes.  A student must download the IBI Student Manual and "Teaching Children with Autism and Other Severe Disabilities" (Koegel, 2008) from the ITC website.  They must purchase the book "Progress without Punishment" (Donnellan et.al, 1988).

Is a class rescheduled if there are not enough students?

Yes.  Once six (6) students have been identified, a class may be rescheduled for that region based on the availability of the instructor and the location.

Can more than one (1) class occur in a region per quarter?

It is anticipated that only one class will be offered per region per quarter.

Is University of Idaho credit available?

Not at this time.

Does a Project Supervisor have to be employed by the agency or school for whom the student is working?

No.  An agency can contract with or make other arrangements with a person who is registered with the ITC as a Project Supervisor to supervise a student in another agency or school.
