Effective March 1, 2008, all IBI Student Projects will be graded by the ITC.
Criteria of a Passing IBI Student Project
Upon receipt of a completed IBI Student Project, the ITC will grade the project using a standardized rubric and notify the trainer of the score within 30 calendar days. If a student’s project receives a score of 80% or higher, the ITC will recommend the student for full certificationstatus to the Department of Health and Welfare (the Department). The Department will issue a certificate to the student as a certified IBI provider in the state of Idaho.
Criteria of a Failing IBI Student Project
1. IBI Student Project not completed within the five (5) month time period. If a student does not complete the IBI Student Project within 5 months as described in the IBI Student Project manual, he/she will lose provisional status as of the date of the notification sent to the Trainer and will be required to develop a Plan of Completion with the ITC. The Trainer must submit the Plan of Completion to the ITC for approval. Once approved by the ITC, the student may implement the Plan, which must be completed within three (3) months of the approval date. It is the Trainer’s responsibility to notify the student of the project completion timeline. Upon timely completion and a passing grade, the ITC will recommend the student for full certification status to the Department. The Department will issue a certificate to the student as a certified IBI provider in the state of Idaho.
A student may only submit one Plan of Completion per project. Should the student fail to complete the project within three (3) months of the approval date, he/she will be required to retake the IBI course, pass the examination, and complete a new Student Project.
2. Student receives a score between 70% and 79%. If the student’s initial project receives a score between 70% and 79% as graded by ITC, the student will be given the opportunity to develop a Plan of Correction to correct the identified activities. The ITC will notify Trainer and the Department of the student’s score. It is the responsibility of the Trainer to notify the student and the supervisor of the student’s score.
The student will lose provisional status on the date the trainer is notified of the project grade by ITC. The Department will notify the student of the loss of IBI provisional status in writing. The notice will be sent to the last known address of the student as well as the ITC.
The Trainer must submit a Plan of Correction to the ITC for approval within 15 calendar days of notification of the student’s failing grade. The Plan will be reviewed by ITC within 15 calendar days. Upon approval from the ITC, the Plan must be completed and submitted within 3 months of the approval date. The ITC will notify the Trainer and the Department of the approved Plan of Correction. Upon receiving the revised project under the Plan of Correction, the ITC will complete the IBI Student Project Grading rubric and notify the Trainer of the student’s score within 30 calendar days.
A Student Project, under a Plan of Correction, must receive a score of 80% or higher to receive a passing score. If a student receives a score of less than 80% on a revised Project he/she must retake the IBI course, pass the IBI state exam and complete another Student Project on a different subject according to the guidelines of the Student Project.
3. Student attains a score of 69% or lower. If a student receives a score of 69% or lower on the IBI Student Project, the student is considered to have failed the project and will not have an opportunity to submit a Plan of Completion or a Plan of Correction.
The ITC will complete the IBI Student Project Grading rubric and notify the Trainer and the Department of the score within 30 calendar days from receipt of the project.
The student will lose provisional status effective on the date the Trainer is notified of the failing grade. It is the Trainer’s responsibility to communicate the failure to the student. To be reconsidered for IBI Provider certification, the student must retake the IBI course, pass the IBI state exam and successfully complete another Student Project on a different subject according to the guidelines of the Student Project.
The Department will notify the student and the ITC of the loss of IBI provisional status in writing. The notice will be sent to the last known address of the student.
